Two years after Elton F. first shared her story with us, she came back with a whole lot of life happening. She and her fiancé bought a home, are planning a wedding, and are getting ready to welcome a baby girl. She also stepped into fundraising and development at 4D Recovery, helping tell the stories of the people and programs she has spent years serving.
“AA will forever be my foundation, and when I need to tap back in, AA is where I go.”
What stayed with us is how plainly Elton talks about recovery changing over time. Early on, she was in meetings constantly. Today, family and work fill much more of the week. AA is still where she goes when she needs to tap back in, and she is still in touch with the first sponsor she found in Oregon.
That matters. Recovery does not have to look exactly the same in every season to remain real. Elton is nearing eight years sober, raising a family, and carrying forward the things that helped her get here: honesty, connection, service, and the willingness to keep showing up.

Her daughter will grow up knowing her mother is sober. That is no small thing. We are grateful Elton came back to let us hear what that life looks like today.
