Despite these hardships, Jack never lost sight of his desire for a better life. His journey from addiction to recovery is a powerful reminder that with the right support, change is always possible.
, "I knew that I needed to provide for myself. I knew that I wanted to have what my peers were having at my age—an apartment I liked, things I loved, and a job where I felt like I was helping people. Now, I have a job I love, with people I love, doing something I love. Things are just complete, and that drives me."
    The Role of Sponsorship
Joining Jack in this episode is Colette, a previous guest from episode four, who adds depth and insight to the conversation. Colette and Jack's relationship exemplifies the importance of sponsorship in recovery. Their bond is a shining example of how mutual support and understanding can lead to profound personal growth and healing.
Colette reflects on her experience, "What he was able to do for me is, I'm telling you, I'm spoiled. He got a packet of the steps and put them in a three-ring binder, having everything written out for me. I did all of my steps, and Jack was there every step of the way. His authenticity and support saved my life."
Jack adds, "Sponsorship is very affirming to the choices I've made in my recovery. It's good to know that what worked for me can work for someone else. Seeing Colette grow and achieve her goals has been incredibly rewarding. It's a reminder that recovery is a shared journey, and we all have the power to make a difference in each other's lives."

Peter Celebrating 7 Years, 2,557 Days, 36,864,000 Minutes, and 2,211,840,000 Seconds of Sobriety

A Journey of Gratitude, Growth, and Unwavering Support

Reaching the milestone of 7 years of sobriety is nothing short of incredible, and I was overjoyed to celebrate this achievement with my co-host Julie at my home group, The Lunch Bunch, and extended family this past Friday. As I sat there, sharing my journey, the room was filled with friends and chosen family, all of whom have been integral to my recovery. Their supportive faces filled me with overwhelming gratitude.
    Image description
Reflecting on the past seven years during my share, I realized just how much I have achieved. Through meeting my dear friend  Don (Dad), I have built a wonderful family of choice (Lunch Bunch), cared for my father during his final months, and helped my mom secure her own home nearby so I can assist her in the future. My marriage of 24 years continues to bring me immense joy, and my husband and I have created cherished memories during our camping trips in our trailer. I love you, Justin, for supporting me through the dark and bright times!
I maintained my sobriety through a toxic manager, eventually leaving to pursue my business, which has been successful. Now, I am following my passion with the Real Recovery Podcast. All of this would not have been possible without my sobriety.
    Image description
I am profoundly grateful for the Real Recovery Podcast and the amazing guests who have courageously shared their stories on our show. My co-host Julie, in particular, has been a pillar of strength and vulnerability, sharing her own experiences and supporting me in my passions as I do for her.
I am truely gratfule for my dear freind Donna who was there for me at the very begining of my journy at ECAC! My life is better with you in it!
This celebration was made even more special by sharing it with my mentor and friend, Izzy (GTDGoTheDistance.org). Being in the 7 Year Club together, I look up to him for all that he’s achieved in his seven years of sobriety. Izzy has been an inspiration to me, showing that anything is possible in recovery.
A big thank you to Julie for making my day smooth and fun, as I was anxious to speak in front of the group. I am much more comfortable behind the mic! The birthday tart, flowers, Pie Spot pie, beautiful coin, and keychain coin holder are so precious to me. THANK YOU! Love you.
As I begine this next year, I want to extend my deepest gratitude and thanks to everyone in my life and my wonderful home group. Without your unwavering support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you for being a part of my journey.
    Cheers,
    Peter
