Roger’s journey began in the suburbs of San Francisco, where early experimentation with drugs and alcohol quickly escalated into a decades-long struggle with addiction. His life took a dramatic turn after surviving a near-fatal gunshot—an event that marked both a low point and a catalyst for change.

Despite multiple relapses and the loss of loved ones to addiction, Roger’s path to recovery was shaped by the support of sponsors, the fellowship of meetings, and a growing sense of responsibility to give back. He credits his long-term sobriety to making recovery his top priority, embracing service, and staying close to the center of the recovery community. Roger’s daily routine includes reaching out to others with affirmations and support, sponsoring newcomers, and volunteering weekly—actions that have become the foundation of his own healing.
