Many event attendees, such as Becky from GTD and Quintin, shared the struggles they faced and how GTD’s running programs offered them structure and support. Having started singing at the age of five, Madison’s journey took a profound turn when she got clean and sober nearly three years ago. Madison also emphasized the importance of the Portland recovery community in supporting her journey, particularly in her first year of sobriety. She explained that attending meetings and connecting with other individuals in recovery has kept her grounded and inspired her music. Her performances, both at the Recover Outloud event and beyond, reflect this deep connection to her own recovery and the wider community.
