Peter Celebrating 7 Years, 2,557 Days, 36,864,000 Minutes, and 2,211,840,000 Seconds of Sobriety7/21/2024
A Journey of Gratitude, Growth, and Unwavering SupportReaching the milestone of 7 years of sobriety is nothing short of incredible, and I was overjoyed to celebrate this achievement with my co-host Julie at my home group, The Lunch Bunch, and extended family this past Friday. As I sat there, sharing my journey, the room was filled with friends and chosen family, all of whom have been integral to my recovery. Their supportive faces filled me with overwhelming gratitude. Reflecting on the past seven years during my share, I realized just how much I have achieved. Through meeting my dear friend Don (Dad), I have built a wonderful family of choice (Lunch Bunch), cared for my father during his final months, and helped my mom secure her own home nearby so I can assist her in the future. My marriage of 24 years continues to bring me immense joy, and my husband and I have created cherished memories during our camping trips in our trailer. I love you, Justin, for supporting me through the dark and bright times! I maintained my sobriety through a toxic manager, eventually leaving to pursue my business, which has been successful. Now, I am following my passion with the Real Recovery Podcast. All of this would not have been possible without my sobriety. I am profoundly grateful for the Real Recovery Podcast and the amazing guests who have courageously shared their stories on our show. My co-host Julie, in particular, has been a pillar of strength and vulnerability, sharing her own experiences and supporting me in my passions as I do for her. I am truely gratfule for my dear freind Donna who was there for me at the very begining of my journy at ECAC! My life is better with you in it! This celebration was made even more special by sharing it with my mentor and friend, Izzy (GTDGoTheDistance.org). Being in the 7 Year Club together, I look up to him for all that he’s achieved in his seven years of sobriety. Izzy has been an inspiration to me, showing that anything is possible in recovery. A big thank you to Julie for making my day smooth and fun, as I was anxious to speak in front of the group. I am much more comfortable behind the mic! The birthday tart, flowers, Pie Spot pie, beautiful coin, and keychain coin holder are so precious to me. THANK YOU! Love you. As I begine this next year, I want to extend my deepest gratitude and thanks to everyone in my life and my wonderful home group. Without your unwavering support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you for being a part of my journey.

Finding Hope and Community: The Journey Begins with Real Recovery Podcast Pre-Show Episode 0032/28/2024
A New Dawn in Recovery: Uniting Stories, Building Community
In the quiet moments before the dawn of a new venture, the Real Recovery Podcast team is already buzzing with activity. The latest pre-show episode, number three, is not just a mere update—it's the story of passion, community, and the transformative power of shared experiences in the world of recovery.
Peter B, alongside his co-host Julie, dedicates this episode to the labor of love that has been the preparation for their forthcoming series. It's more than a podcast; it's a mission to give back to a community that has given so much to them, to share the mosaic of stories that form the collective journey of sobriety and recovery.
Peter opens up about his own path to recovery, seven plus years in the making, and the critical role community played in his journey. From the local Alano club where he first sought solace and support to finding his true fit with a group at the Sunnyside Church, Peter's narrative is one of discovery, honesty, and the quest for a place to be unapologetically oneself. As they gear up for the official launch at the North Coast Roundup in April, the team has been diligently working behind the scenes, curating a guest list that promises to bring diverse and inspiring stories to the fore. These tales are not just anecdotes; they are lifelines thrown into the turbulent seas of addiction, meant to pull listeners towards a horizon of hope. The podcast is poised to be a platform supported by its listeners, with a vision to not only sustain its creation but to extend its reach into the community through scholarships and support for those in need. As Peter shares, the aspiration is to leave a legacy—one of inspiration and aid long after the microphones go silent. This weekend, Peter and Julie will record the opening and closing segments that will bookend the episodes to come. It's a small step in the technical process but a giant leap in their journey as storytellers and advocates for recovery.
So, as the Real Recovery Podcast team stands on the cusp of something great, they invite you to join them. Visit realrecoverypodcast.com, subscribe to the newsletter, and if possible, contribute to their GoFundMe. Every bit of support counts in making this dream a beacon for those seeking the warmth of recovery.
Stay tuned for the official release and join Peter, Julie, and their guests as they navigate the real stories of recovery—stories that could change lives, foster a community, and maybe, just maybe, start a movement of healing across the world. |
